All alone on a weekend

I only realized it now, that I don't really have any friends. I called Avy to see if she wanted to meet up this weekend, and when she had other plans I was stuck at home. It's really sad, and even more so because I didn't see it. I've always had a big family, but they're not my friends in the sense that I can be a typical 20 something with them.

And so, the next step in my new life is to meet new people. I've never had to do that before so I'm a little scared. Where do I begin?

  1. I'm sorry! If we didn't live on opposite sides of the country, I'd say we should hang out :)

  2. It's tough finding new people to hang out with, but they're out there! I think you really just have to make yourself do new things. I know my hobbies are super-nerdy, but I've still made some pretty good friends from hiking with the Audubon Society, and joining writing workshops. You just have to stalk out people with similar interests. :D

  9. i wish i could give you some advice but i'm in that same place in my own life, at the moment. i think bravery has a lot to do with it, and a certain degree of reckless abandon. x

  10. awww this has happened to me your definitely not alone. we get to our 20's and it happens, we drift apart because we are different or our lives have changed. I just started being more confident and open with girls that I met and liked and just said we will catchup one weekend and then we did and now i have a completely new (with a few oldies) friend circle and I am loving it. You will get out of this phase I promise.

I am now following your blog by the way. take care xxx

  11. The good thing is that people usually feel the same way as you about making new friends,it just isn't written on their faces.

Write a list of your hobbies and ways in which to publicly engage in them.. perhaps a book-club or a sport you are interested in.

    Goodluck!

  13. Ohhh *hugs* I have been through so many phases like this. I moved to the city for uni and felt a bit like everyone already had their 'groups' of friends and I was an outsider. It took many years and lots of lonely weekend to finally find some lovely friends of my own. Blogging is a great way to meet people too! xxx

  14. I wish we were in the same county n the same city.. I'd have loved to hang out with you! And don't feel so lonely.. There always exist people when you feel so.. Meet new people, get along with them.. and try taking them as a part of your life.. Meet people with a different point of view and then you'll see how it works! :)
